Every now and then we need to spark some creative juices in ourselves so we go searching for ideas and inspiration. Bullet journal banners and headers are the perfect place to start. Here you can find all the many different ways that you can title your pages and spreads.
All of us at some point will want pretty headers and banners for our bullet journal pages. If you are not familiar with brush lettering or creating banners I highly recommend you practice them on extra paper, in a practice journal, or in a drawing notebook. This will help you to perfect your style before committing them to your everyday journal.
Before we get started here is a list of my recommended supplies.
Recommended ProductsFrom time to time the Scribbles that Matter Journal is sold out on Amazon. When this happens third party sellers will try to sell the journal for an insane amount of money. DO NOT BUY THAT! Scribbles that Matter should be back in stock soon. My second favorite journal is the Essentials Dot Matrix, though I warn you the pages on this one are thinner and bleeding and shadows show up on opposite sides. However, it's a decent cheap journal if you are in a pinch and just want to get started.

Hand Lettering Styles in Headers
One thing people often get upset about when they first start hand lettering headers for their bullet journal is when their font doesn’t turn out quite the way they imagined it. I want you to sit back and clear your expectations from your brain before you start hand lettering.
Just like with handwriting, everyone has their own unique style when it comes to lettering. You will never have the same exact style as another, and that is absolutely perfect. Let your lettering be unique to you.
There has never been nor will there be another Van Gogh. There will always be something completely different in the styles of painting. You can imitate but you will never be exactly like someone else. Go on with your bad self and be unique from all the others.
Bullet Journal Banners
Banners are like drawing cubes. Once you learn it and get used to it you will be off creating a whole bunch of different banners. Get creative with them, use scrolls, make them wavy, use signs. You do not need to do the same banner all the time either. Use different styles throughout the month and make that journal as unique as you.
Bullet Journal Doodles
Use different doodles in the backgrounds of your headers too. Create a watercolor doodle and then write your header over top. Add smaller doodles around your header. Have fun with it and make it unique to you.
Bullet Journal Arrows
A popular header style is one that uses arrows. Arrows are a great way to give yourself a mental note to keep moving forward. The arrows can surround or look like they are going through a header. Additionally, you can draw and write your header as though it’s part of the arrow.
