April has arrived, Spring is here, and all is … stuck at home because of a virus. March was a crazy month and 2020 is shaping up to be a year none of us will forget.
I actually stepped away from my normal bullet journal drawings in March because of the craziness in the world. My bullet journal because sort of a journal in this time and I haven’t drawn pretty much the entire month.
With anxiety running rampant and the whole world being at my normal anxiety levels I’m starting to feel the artist tingle. You know that desire to drown out the entire world while watching your favorite sci-fi series on TV.
I went looking to gain some ideas for my April spread and I thought to myself, well maybe others want to see what I see on a normal day on Instagram. Just so happens this was a great day for April spreads and ideas.
I pulled together some of my favorites and I’m sharing them with you here.
Theme Ideas To Use In April
When you think of April the old saying, “April showers brings May flowers,” often comes to mind. Last year I did a rain and umbrella spread but this year I need to infuse a bit of happiness into my life. So I’m going bright with my theme.
I’m think bright dots, circles, and lines to keep it simple since I haven’t done any actual bullet journaling in a month. A bunch of quote pages instead of my normal habit trackers. I also know I’m going to need a mood tracker this month as I have been all over the place in the past month.
Here’s a list of themes that I think are fantastic for April:
- Daisy Theme
- Eggs
- Bunny Theme
- Book Theme
- Gamer Theme
- Bee Theme
- Potted Plants
- Lavender
- Rain and Umbrellas
Being the beginning of Spring there are loads of different options that you can go with. The bullet journalers below have all picked amazing themes this month and I’m excited to share them with you. Make sure you click on their picture to follow them on Instagram.
Great April Fonts
The first thing I like to consider in my themes are fonts. April is a great month for a soft handwritten script, a fun bubbly, or a block font as those go well with most Spring themes. Check out some examples of great April fonts to try.

The cover page sets up your month and your theme in a fun way. You can have it be useful with a calendar, have it be a reminder for self care, or embrace the fun of Spring with bright colors. Choose a theme that represents you as we go into April.
