Creating a book log for your bullet journal will help you to get on track with reading every day. You’ll end up wishing you had more time to read in the day to read more. There are loads of ways you can track books. While right now I only track books I have read I want to start tracking recommendations that people give me.
Creating a book recommendation collection will allow you to track what you want to read. Add a star rating system or space for a brief review. Having a tracker like this can be beneficial to look back at to make recommendations to other people.
The other type of bullet journal book trackers that are popular is just your simple books I’ve read. This can be a list with title and author or an intricate design such as a bookshelf or stack of books.
Tips to Designing a Bullet Journal Book Log
If you are going to use a fun design like a bookshelf or stack of books there are a few things to keep in mind.
Add shadows to help make your spread stand out and have dimension to it. You can do this by using a shade darker color or going over the spots where your shadows fall heavier with your color. In order to figure out where you shadows fall look at the light source of the room. Is it to the left or right? Or is your light coming down from above?
If you are doing a stack of books remember one thing. You don’t want the page lines to be perfectly straight. If you look at pages in a book they rarely create perfectly straight lines because they are not hard or super thick.
As always, outline first lightly in pencil so you can adjust as needed. After you draw up your design in pencil work your colors from lightest to darkest. This will help you to keep your light pens and markers from picking up the darker colors and ruining the color that comes out.

Book trackers are a fantastic way to stay on track with your reading habit. They can help you to start a reading habit as well.
Outline your spread first in pencil and then fill it in with your fine tips or markers. Start with lighter colors first and then move into the darker colors. Use shadows to add dimension to your artwork. Get creative and have fun with your book tracker.
